Back to The Chase Saturday at DCRP!
Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 15, 2013) – After a rousing inaugural TORC Off Road Series event over the past weekend at Dodge City Raceway Park, it’s back to championship chase action this Saturday night.
With a strong start to the season that included nearly 100 competitors at the March 30 season opener and then a standing room only crowd for Saturday’s TORC Off Road Truck finale, another action packed night of high-speed racing is expected this Saturday with a full card of IMCA Modifieds, United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets.
Saturday’s racing action goes green at 7:30 p.m.
Cody Gearhart broke out into the lead in the Dodge City Raceway Park IMCA Modified championship points race by besting a field of 27 competitors in the March 30 opener. Turpin, Oklahoma’s Gearhart took the lead away from Mike Lunow 12 laps into the 20-lapper with Dodge City’s Lunow settling for second ahead of WaKeeney’s Kyle Rohleder.
Others jumping into the early lead in the title chases include 2011 track champion Clay Sellard (Bucklin) in United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, Shannon Maughlin (Dighton) in IMCA Stock Cars, Scott Messino in Thunder Cars and Jarett Lunow (Dodge City) in Hornets.
Following this Saturday’s full slate of racing action, the popular 3/8-mile clay oval will sit idle for one weekend before a much anticipated weekend double on May 3-4 that will offer up $1,200-to-win IMCA Modified features on each night. The United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Thunder Cars will be in action on both May 3 and May 4 as well.
Tickets to this Saturday’s racing action are just $10 for adults, with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
Eighteen overall nights of action at Dodge City Raceway Park over the course of 2013 includes several special events including the TORC Off Road Trucks on April 12-13, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars on July 5-6, a pair of $1,200-to-win IMCA Modified tilts on May 3-4 along with USAC Sprint Cars on August 23-24 and four rounds of URSS Sprint Car competition along the way.
