Will they burn it down?

Last time these bad boys were here they were so fast – they were a blur!
This Saturday night July 31st is the Dodge City Days Late Model Stock Car Races!
In 2009 the crowd witnessed history as Kelly Boen lapped the entire field and we were all wondering if he would lap himself if he would have had a couple more laps! Kelly is faster than most and is basically feared by many. So to combat that we go together with the NCRA (National Championship Racing Association) and invited the CLMRA (Colorado Late Model Racing Association) to this huge race for Dodge City Days.
In the first of the race season we who braved the cold and wintery skies saw the Midwest Late Model racers take on the CLMRA boys. The winner this spring was Fast Eddie Kirkhoff from Gilette, Wyoming.
Boen seems to have a problem with his home area association and does not run at their events so the CLMRA racers are looking forward to the battle.
This NCRA vs CLMA Challenge will boost car count and rev up the East versus the West and on Saturday night we are going to find out if anyone has what it takes to challenge Boen and the other top dogs from NCRA including Delbert Smith, Al Purkey and more.
With this huge event the pits will be full of cars with IMCA MONSTER MODIFIEDS, NAPA THUNDER CARS, IMCA SPORT MODS, HORNETS, and UNITED WIRELESS STOCK CARS.
Six (6) full classes of cars and ticket prices are only $15 dollars for Adults, $10 for Sr Citizens, and only $5 bux for kids. NAPA in Dodge City has $1 off discount Adult tickets for sale get them while they have some left.

We are proud to bring you the best of the local bands (on the lawn) beginning at 5pm on Friday July 30, and then on the main stage Head East blasts off after we feature several different classes of racing. Head East is famous with several songs including “Never Been Any Reason”.
Next hitting the stage will be the return of Pop Evil. We interviewd Leigh the lead singer on our last weeks Rock n’ Race Report on the Buzzard and he told us they were bringing a whole new album full of songs and would “break them out here!” So we will be the first to hear this new music that is sure to bring the house down!
Finally the group many have been waiting for Halestorm! Halestorm is from Pennsylvania and they are lead by Lizzy and she has lit a storm of media and attension with her song ” I Get Off on You” and recently they were charted as number 3 Heavy Metal Band by VHI!
This is gonna be a fun night for all different adult ages and we are proud to announce it is being brought to you by Boot Hill Casino & Resort and presented by 93.9 the Buzzard.

Bart Boyd Memorial Recap

When people came down from the grandstand they were all smiles. This was a great night of racing with good races in all 6 divisions and we were finished by 10:30pm. The 1st Annual Bart Boyd Memorial was a heck of a night and we were proud to see Bart’s wife Denise here and also his daughter Brooke. Bart was a good man and a whole bunch of us miss him.
Here is some quick notes about the races:
Hornets were racing on a dusty sliick asphalt track which really stacked up the action. David Guinn the Post Man worked his way from rear starting position to win yet another feature. Second place was Cody Lampe and third was Justin Betzner.
The NAPA THUNDER CARS were won by Brett Copeland, second was WD Matteson and third was Andy Barton. Barton had nearly totaled his car last week so he was happy with 3rd.
IMCA SPORT MODS with Northern vs Southern Rules coming together is a controversial deal but the racing was great. Brady Bell won the main with Cole Traungott from Oklahoma was second, and Dale Wanger another Oklahomian was third.
UNITED WIRELESS IMCA STOCK CARS was a war. Brandon Fisher wanted to win this race bad. He led one lap then Sauser moved into second and then Rod Wadel then moved into the lead and never gave it up. Rod won, Sauser was Second, and Cameron Austin was third. That was Cameron’s first time here to DCRP and his car was not only fast but was beautiful.
MONSTER ENERGY IMCA MODIFIEDS was a war. Diving back and forth and cars moving up to the top and back down to the bottom had the grandstand standing, Brendon Gemmill was the winner with Troy his father was second and third was Tim Lieker. Hard fought win and anyone in the top 10 earned it for sure.
Non Winged sprint cars was again a huge hit with the crowd. At the drop of the green TIGER Mullens jumped in to the lead. He looked like he was on a rail and then here came that red 36 with Jason Matin. Martin was about a 1/4 lap behind and then he saw the cushion up top and moved up the track and started eating up the lead that Mullens and Staples had going on. Shelby Staples was broadsliding his #7 like a pro and this rookie driver has found this non winged racing fun and he looked like a vetern. Staples soon heard the growl of the Martin motor and as he was on the bottom of the track on the low groove there were Racn Jason Martin around the top. As he passed Staples, Jason was already putting a target on Mullens car. With his sights on Mullen, he went up top and stayed on the cushion and worked it lap after lap until he was all over TIGER. Mullens protected the wrong line and dove to the bottom groove, and up against the concrete there went Jason and launched out the the corner into the lead where he held it till the end.
Martin wins, Mullens was second and Staples was third, and guys like Nick King showed up for his first time without a wing since the 2008 WOO show, the Caldwell’s were all smiles also, it’s good to see drivers having fun again. The NESQUICK Non-Winged 305’s are a great show and we are proud of these guys!
The rest of the finishes can be found below in the RESULTS section.
