Happy St. Patricks Day 2010
Race fans, drivers, car owners, and race families we wish you the luck of the IRISH on this great Wednesday which is St. Patrick’s Day.
When St. Pat’s day comes around every year it makes us realize how close race season is. We all need a little luck and for sure in these economic conditions so maybe everyone should wear a little green today and if you know me very well it will suprise you to know I got mine on today. Heck even I need some luck!
No poloticians can seem to get us out of this economic mess, and it’s more like get us in deeper. Most of us are feeling a hit in the pocket book this year more than ever.
Today is St. Patricks Day and I am Irish and it’s going to be a glorious day. With nearly 60 degrees and sun shining and race season approaching and I woke up in a festive mood. This morning I have decided to roll back weekly pit passes from $25 dollars to $20 dollars for our usual weekly events at Dodge and Liberal. Those prices are not every week as we do have some specials but for the most part of the year this will save you some money especially if you are a family or pay for your teams pit passes.
I just wanted to say I appreciate you racing at Dodge City and Liberal and wish you all a very Happy St. Patricks Day 2010!

Late Model Six Shooter Showdown

The Rolling Thunder of the Late Models is going to shake up Dodge City. Dusty Wiegert is bringing one of the biggest events to hit DCRP in a long time. He started his Midwest Dirt Late Model Series just over a year ago and he has been to several different race tracks in Kansas. To make his event bigger here at DCRP he joined forces with the Colorado group to give a good car count for this Mothers Day weekend bash!
Dusty’s MidwestDirt Late Model Series and the Colorado Late Model Association roar into the Dodge City Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday May 7 & 8, 2010, for the inaugural Six Shooter Showdown!
The event will feature high caliber drivers from around the Midwest battling in a complete show each night! They will be joined during the weekend by the Mod Lites both days while the Thunder cars make a special appearance Friday night with the IMCA Stock Cars in action on Saturday night.
The event is not sanctioned by IMCA but the Stock Cars will show up in force to get some much needed laps and some good purse money is put up also. The NAPA Thunder cars start their quest for the seaons points championship at this race.
Get ready for the Late Model Showdown!
USAC Midgets in Dodge City

The USAC Midget Racers are coming to Dodge City Raceway Park for two nights of USAC/SMRS Championship racing, Friday and Saturday nights May 21st and 22nd. These explosive, short wheelbase, over powered, screaming racers are an experience to watch. Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, Mo. is the defending series champion and is coming here with winning on his agenda.
A 30-lap feature is scheduled for Friday nights races on the high banked Dodge City to start the weekend off. “After 30 laps on this race track those midget guys will be tired of trying to hold their heads up straight as much as this track is banked!, said Ed Beckley DCRP track operator. Saturday night A Feature will be at least 30-laps also. Brady Bacon and Bryan Clauson are two of the Hot Shoes that seemingly are the fast guys, but they better watch out for several of our local guys including young TIGER (Tanner) Mullens from Wichita.
TIGER has had several different races in the midgets, ‘These cars dart around and are a handfull but they are fun to drive. I am a non-winged type driver anyway so backing it in the corners works great for me!,”said TIGER.
Rumors have it that at least one Sprint Car star has already got him a midget ride for this race and there are more looking.
Last year’s USAC/SMRS series produced a dozen different feature winners, with Loyet grabbing six checkered flags. The competition is tough and we might be seeing the next star on the USAC circuit.
In addition to the breathtaking racing action, the popular “Pit Party” will be part of the event on Saturday from 2pm to 3pm. Ticket holders for Saturday’s race will be allowed into the pit area during that time to meet with the race teams, get autographs, apparel, pictures and much more.
This year’s USAC/SMRS series is here at the track the World of Outlaws called the best in 2009 and we here at DCRP cannot wait to see these speedy monsters hit the track!
Tickets will be on sale around sometime in March for this event. Want to know more just join our email list or send your email to dodgecityraceway@yahoo.com and Let’s Go Racing!
