DCRP Back in Action Saturday Night!

09 June 2014 | Featured News | |

mods052414 980cLonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 9, 2014) – After a pair of idle weekend, the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval fires back to life with a full card of championship chase action this Saturday night.

With five different winners in as many events thus far in 2014, the IMCA Modifieds headline Saturday’s card that also includes IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets.  Racing action gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

Action has been unpredictable in the Modified ranks with a different face in victory lane each time out.  Clay Sellard, Joel Lane and Jesse Smith have each captured first career DCRP wins in the Modified ranks with Van Gemmill and Scott Brown victorious as well.

Although shut out of victory lane so far, defending track champion Austin Allen of Wichita has moved atop the point charts by a slim 6-point margin over Hugoton’s Ryan Heger.  Kale Beavers of Ulysses is a close third with Woodward, Oklahoma’s Cole Traugott and Dodge City’s Jesse Smith rounding out the current top five.

Defending IMCA Modified champ Jeff Kaup of Woodward has posted a pair of wins to open a 70-point advantage over Austin Walker and Josh Appel, who are tied for second in points.

Perry Misner’s run of IMCA Stock Car perfection was interrupted by an Angel Munoz win last time out on May 24.  Still, Misner holds a 48-point advantage in the title chase over Dusty Witthuhn.

The Thunder Car battle is a tight one with William Bauer holding a 7-point lead over Matt O’Hair with Dustin Walker another point back in third.

Jarett Lunow remains undefeated in Hornet action on the inner asphalt oval, going four-for-four to open up a 34-point lead over Jarred Nightengale in the title chase.

Tickets to Saturday’s championship chase action at Dodge City Raceway Park are just $10 for adults with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.  Pit passes are $30.

Dodge City Raceway Park is located on the south edge of Dodge City, KS, on US 283, then 0.9 miles west on US 56, then 0.1 miles south.  For more information, contact the track at 620-225-3277 or check www.dodgecityraceway.com.
