After opening the season in the spring and then battling it out through the summer months, the 2013 Dodge City Raceway Park champions will be determined in Saturday night’s Inaugural Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event.

While the United Rebel Sprint Cars will mix it up atop the 3/8-mile clay oval on Saturday night as well with championship point implications on the line, the track’s five regular title chase divisions will mix it up as well for one last time in 2013.

Leading the way in track championship points into the finale are a handful of drivers including Austin Allen (IMCA Modifieds), Jeff Kaup (United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds), Billy Phelps (IMCA Stock Cars), Dustin Walker (Thunder Cars) and Jarett Lunow (Hornets).

IMCA Modifieds:

While Woodward’s Cole Traugott tries to finish off the 2013 DCRP season with a third consecutive win, an eighth-place finish or better assures Goddard’s Austin Allen of the track championship.  Jesse Smith is Allen’s closest challenger with Jon Herring, Jr., a close third.

Jeff Kaup can secure the Sport Mod crown with a finish of 24th or better in Saturday’s finale, while only 25 points separate Toby Witthuhn, Austin Walker and Matthew Crowell in the battle for runner-up honors.

With the championship secured simply by showing up, Billy Phelps can focus on snaring his first feature win of the season while Marlin Hogie tries to fend off Brett Copeland in the battle for second.

After a wild mid-season flip, Dustin Walker has made a late rally to take the top spot into the finale and can put the title out of anyone else’s reach with a finish of eighth or better.  Cody Davis is the closest within striking range with Matt O’Hair just another eight points back in third.

Jarett Lunow has dominated the wild and wacky Hornets on the inner asphalt oval with five wins in six tries and can secure the championship with a finish of 15th or better on Saturday night.

Admission to Saturday’s Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event featuring URSS Sprint Cars along with IMCA Modifieds, United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets is just $15 for adults with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
