DCRP Safety Crew


The DCRP Fire and Rescue team provides fire suppression, medical treatment and, looks over track safety for DCRP. Not only are these crews responsible for the drivers but, for the fans as well. The Crew is made up of professional as well as volunteer firefighters, EMT’s, Paramedics and, First Responders all of whom have passed national and/or state testing to gain certification. These folks also are required to maintain their certifications by attending numerous hours of continuing education each year.

Currently the Safety Crew is made up of one First Responder, six EMT-I’s and five Paramedics. DCRP is the only dirt track in Kansas that can boast this quality of trained professionals taking care of the drivers and fans.

The safety crew has at its disposal 2 Chevy Pickups, donated by Magouirks of Dodge City. Safety 1 is a 2010 Chevy pickup staged at the track entrance. This vehicle carries 150# Purple K extinguisher, 4 extinguishers that contain Cold Fire and 1 20# Purple K extinguisher. In addition to the fire suppression equipment, this truck also has a combination T-N-T rescue tool, confined space cutter, Dewalt cordless sawzall, shovels, and various other hand tools utilized at each event. Safety 2 is a 2007 Chevy pickup stationed on the infield of the track and has a 150 gallon compression tank that contains Cold Fire and water, 1 20# Purple K extinguisher 2 cold fire extinguishers. In addition this truck will soon also carry a combination T-N-T rescue tool and a Dewalt sawzall, shovels, and various other hand tools utilized at each event.

Also stationed inside the track is a Polaris Ranger. This quick response vehicle has emergency medical supplies on it and is staffed by EMT’s. An ambulance is required at all race events and is stationed in the pit area for easy access for both drivers and pit crews. In the event a patient needs to be transported to the hospital an ambulance from Ford County Station 1 is dispatched to the track. The crews on scene will begin treatment and stabilization of the patient while awaiting the ambulance.
