Its IMCA legal and way cheaper than metal and will take a lickn ask Kent Lampe.
There are several different colors and sizes of thickness but the main thing is the COST and DURABILITY and the ease of building a body out of it.

Yes there is no where in the rules that says you have to buy high dollar body parts. There are limits and measurements you need to stay within but with a straight edge and a carpet knife you can make your own.
The sides and the tops my guess would be to use the thicker stuff. It cleans up well, lasts, graphics go on easy, and replacement parts can be bought at any sign shop.

Not trying to rock the boat, but this is what the imca rules state."5. BODY: (See diagram) No composite body panels allowed except roof rock guard and hood scoop……."
"Roof must be fiberglass or aluminum"
I have no problem with the plastic sides but if you guys travel anywhere but DCRP you might get called on it.

Alan Langsdale the IMCA COMPETITION DIRECTOR was in Liberal and saw the body for himself and said right then it was legal from that point on. That is what we are going on, his word.
He inspected it and thought it was one heck of an idea and by the way that car has raced at several other IMCA tracks and there is no problem.
