Remember modifieds – quick changes are not legal for IMCA. That means in Liberal and Dodge City and Hugoton and all other IMCA tracks there are no quick changes for 2010 and talking to Bret and the tech guys from IMCA that is probably a forever deal.

Exactly there are no "SPECIAL RULES" for Liberal anymore either. The cars that race at Liberal and Dodge must be IMCA LEGAL.
You can still run grooved tires at DCRP and Liberal and also Hugoton.

Michael: Glad you are showing interest in the IMCA Modifieds – that's awesome, this would be a good class for you.
Michael it is called track rules ……… and the oK from Bret Root the CEO of IMCA.
We feel the need to help our guys keep life in their tires or other guys can use ones that are not then groove them to help them get a fresh tire out of someones takeoff.
When you getting a modified?
Great choice of class!

Im not getting a mod. That class isnt for me. nor was i trying to start any problems but i can see you took offensive to that. I no who bret root is. My dad talks to him quite often along with my brother. My brother runs a imca hobby stock so i fallow the imcastuff very close. THe only reason i asked is cause those are the only 3 tracks i have heard of that are grooving tires. nothing against it at all as i totally understand the reason. Personally i think it would be nice to see all the imca tracks allow it. your not really making them last longer as you are creating traction for better racing. But on the other side now you have guys with grooved tires that can only run your track and would have to get a nother set to go run any where else. Then you have the guys that come down there for one weekend that wont groove tires cause then they would be wasting that set. Really the way i see it it is a no win scenerio for both sides. I would say just go with the flow and fallow all the rules. So really this is a "SPECIAL RULE"
Why do you think it would be a good class for me?

Michael……….where did I look offended? Nope you have read me wrong AGAIN.
The IMCA class racers are all very competitive and with Nationwide rules so I think all of them are great classes. IMCA modified divsion is one of the most competitive classes in the World and for the costs and the special races and the fact you can take that car and go race it anywhere shows me that it is a great place for any racer to be in.
Look at Brandon 'The Ice Man' did. He was a many time winner in the 305 sprint car division and is now running the IMCA Stock Car division because of costs, competition and it is racing and he is a racer. Do I think he went down a class……NOPE not me i think any of the IMCA classes are full of competition and that is a good move for them.
Thanks Jason for making your opinion and I really not looking for a debate just wanted to answer your question Micheal.
Seeya,
Ed

Legend whats wrong with the mod class? better show than those winged go carts.
As for the tire rule it doesn't help much if at all to groove a new tire I would bet money that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference on the track. but it definatley helps an old one. there is no reason to groove a new tire for dodge just run your new ones at those other tracks and when they get used up, instead of throwing them out back, groove um and bring um to dodge.
and by the way it does make them last longer personally I ran the first part of last year(09') on tires my dad used up the year before just grooved um up a little. and ran the last part of the year on new tires that weren't grooved and ran better the last half of the year with the non grooved tires. this track usually has enough grip it don't make much diff.

I never said there was anything wrong with the mod class at all. It is always nice to see 35 cars show and run for 20 spots. I personally am not a mod fan. Every one has there own preferences and that is why i chose the sprint car class.
I guess i prolly didnt word everything right about the tires. I just kinda figured that once the tread was worn off so you couldnt really make the pattern out to well they would be done. but you must be grooving them deeper in other words to get unused rubber right?
You make a valid point about using old tires and getting new ones every where else. I was just asking these questions for my own insight. I have talk to a couple racers up this way that were wondering alittle bit about it and I wanted to know so i asked about it.

Heck Michael we groove them to where you can almost see the cords. The tire after grooving then has a new edge for pull and side bite.
There are many guys that have grooved up someone elses throw aways and made them work.

Heck yea. I know that it helps keep my NAPA Thunder car on the track. All of my tires are used tires from the throw away tires from buddies that I grove and race them. Sure helps keep cost down for me.
