Thunder Update: Here are some of the rules we have been talking about for the Thunders. I am concerned that we are tying to fix something that is not broke.
Best thing is to not do hardly anything because there is not much wrong – but to make sure you know whatz up here are some of what we have been discussing.
1. There will be no change for the carb rule for 2010. Same rule as we used last year only with stricter wording. To clarlify – You must run the stock carburetor 2 barrel carb for your type of car or the stock fuel injection. No Holley carbs no matter what!
2. Same tire size all corners that drive the car. Rear wheel drive (If the right rear iis a G 60 then it must be that size on the Left Rear) For front wheel drive must be the same on the front axle left to right.
3. No aftermarket distributors or Coils. Must be stock appearing ignition system for that type of car and motor Ford to Ford / Dodge to Mopar / Chevy to other GMC (that does not mean you cannot work on them).
4. Both left and right rub rails are ok to protect quarter panels of the body.
5. 4 inch tall maximum Hood scoops are ok but must be sealed off. No air from outside. Don't get too carried away and have this block your vision.
There is some of the updates and hope you understand we have a GREAT class here let's not change stuff and screw it up!
Seeya!

Okay Ed, I'll try,
Grubbs 28, Mopar has put just about every carb built on all of their motors. In 71' they started using Rochester 2 brrls, in the 80's they even put some quadrajets on a few 360's. You have a choice between a carter BBD or a rochester 2 brrl. The BBD cfm is 340 and the roch. is 350 cfm. But remember 4 brrls cfm is rated at 1.5" of mercury and 2 brrls are at 3" of merc. this is at WOT. 2 brrl carbs produce more velocity than the 4 brrls. In reality your throtle response will be better than the 4 brrl that is on your motor now.
Keep in mind I am talking about the Thunder motor{a stock motor 16" of vac or greater @ 1000 rpm} No cam, no headers, Dirt track, not Drag. CFM is a starting point, The right fuel and air mixture is the real power. CFM = cubic inch x rpm \\ 3456. The car that the Hustler drives I run a stock BB , with a stock 350 cfm roch, motor pulls 17 plus inches of vacum. The Hustler could'nt keep the tires hooked untill I put the rear spoiler on, thanks to Ed.
Grub, I have a Mopar carb master list. I will help you find a carb if you want. Just need to know the year and motor.

That would be awesome, I got a 1978 Chrysler Cordoba with a 400 I've been around alot of fords and a few chevys but this dodge is a whole new deal for me so I'm trying to learn as I go. I've heard that carter carbs are junk but I honestly havent been around then to know, I just want something reliable, I really appreciate all the help guys.

Hey guys. I have made some calls and have come up with 10 or so used 2-Jets. $75 each, and kits for them are about $25.
I know that is what Mike did last year to make his car legal at Dodge. I know that these are stock on chevy, but not sure about mopar. Shotgun would know. I can still get race ready 2-Jets rebuilt from NAPA for about 230 to 240.
