Get Ready For 2009!

After a successful 2008 racing season, Ed Beckley, Promoter, and his staff have been working hard preparing for the 2009 race season which promises to be full of exciting races and lots of surprises. “2008 was a great season and I had one of the best summers I can remember. We learned a lot and are excited to bring that knowledge to the 2009 race season. You’re gonna see some really cool stuff at DCRP this year” said Beckley.

Part of the new “excitement” this year is the addition of Liberal Fairgrounds Speedway (LFGS). Checkered Flag Productions (CFP), Beckley’s promotional company, will take over the track which is a 3/8 mi. slightly banked dirt track. Beckley will bring back Sunday night racing to the area. In addition, CFP was awarded the Five State Fair which is scheduled for August 2-4, 2009. By taking over LFGS it gives us the ability to bring big shows to the region in addition to local racing. We will be bringing in the BST Modified Series, the URSS 305 Sprint cars and other special features to the track while also running the local classes. “The opening of the Liberal track is also an exciting way to reach race fans that recently had not been going to the races and to make new ones that hopefully will come to DCRP also. Sponsor involvement with BUDWEISER, MONSTER ENERGY, and NAPA in Liberal is going to be a good thing also. We are ready to bring racing to that Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas fans!”, said Beckley.

DCRP will start the season with a Village Square Mall Car Show on May 2. All racers are invited to participate, check out our forum for details. This is their opportunity to show off the hard work they have put in all winter.

Our sponsors have once again stepped up to the plate at DCRP. This year you will again see the MONSTER Modified’s, United Wireless Stock Cars, Dodge City Harley Davidson 305 Sprint cars and NAPA Thunders. We truly appreciate their support of DCRP. The first event at DCRP will be the NAPA Thunder Enduro sponsored by Monster Energy Hitman on May 9th. This exciting new event will feature the NAPA Thunders cars in a race of 200 laps or 2 hours, whichever comes first, with the “last man (woman) standing” being crowned the winner! The pay-off is for the top 10 finishers. Ed said, “Last time we ran an enduro there was over 100 cars and it was allot of fun for the drivers and a blast for the spectators!”

Our regular season opener is set for May 16 with all classes appearing as the MONSTER ENERGY Modifieds, UNITED WIRELESS IMCA Stocks, NAPA Thunders, DC Harley Sprints, Hornets and Junior Sprints hit the track for their first regular race appearance of 2009. Then it’s “off to the races” for 2009 so to speak as the racing excitement just keeps going from there!

In addition to regular racing DCRP will again host the World of Outlaws. It is scheduled for June 12-13 2009 and will again be televised on the Speed Channel. We will also have the Checkered Flag Bad Boys of Racing Summer Slam Monster Truck show and a true night of destruction featuring several death-defying stunts and a demolition derby.
