sportmodsdcrp2015Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (August 28, 2015) – The 2015 racing season is in the homestretch at Dodge City Raceway Park with just two nights of action remaining including Saturday night’s Second Annual Sport Modified Mayhem event.

All that remains following Saturday night’s card is the Third Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship Event on Saturday night, September 26.

There is some business to take care of on Saturday night though with a $1,000 winner’s share up for grabs in the IMCA Sport Modified ranks with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks in action as well.

Austin Allen, Jeff Kaup, Michael Pepper and Cody Davis all take point leads into Saturday’s action with numerous positions among the top ten in each division still being contested. Saturday’s racing action fires off at 7:30 p.m.

Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars:

Idle this weekend, only the Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event on September 26 stands between Luke Cranston and the inaugural Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car championship.

Five runner-up finishes in nine races including the last two in a row nearly has a third consecutive track title secured for Austin Allen. William Nusser has moved past Ryan Heger for third with Kale Beavers cracking the top five while Arizona native Tanner Black and Tracy Link have both broken into the top ten.

An early exit from the most recent feature on July 24 for Jeff Kaup cut his lead to 21 points over Mike Appel with just two nights of action remaining. The Sport Mods have offered up 11 different winners in as many events dating back to the 2014 season finale.

With Michael Pepper closing in on his first DCRP track championship, only 19 points separates the trio of Ron Hartman, Brett Copeland and Marlin Hogie in the battle for second. Hogie comes into Saturday after capturing his first DCRP win since June of 2013 during last weekend’s action.

General admission tickets to Saturday’s Second Annual Sport Modified Mayhem event that features $1,000-to-win IMCA Sport Modifieds along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks are just $15 for adults, with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit admission is $30.
