More Title Chase Action Saturday at DCRP!

(June 27, 2013) – While the URSS Sprint Cars take to the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval on Saturday night, three of the track’s championship chase divisions will be in action as well with Cody Gearhart, Jeff Kaup and Billy Phelps leading their respective classes into the night.

Gearhart has moved to the top of the IMCA Modified points charts, Kaup leads the way in United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds and Phelps holds the top spot in IMCA Stock Cars.

Saturday’s action goes green at 7:30 p.m.


IMCA Modifieds:

Suffering a DNF after winning the season opener on March 30, Cody Gearhart has put together several strong runs to move back to the number one position in points as five different drivers have reached victory lane in as many events thus far.

IMCA Stock Cars:

Just as in the Modified and Sport Modifies, the IMCA Stock Cars have offered up five different winners in as many events.  Although shut out of victory lane, Billy Phelps has amassed a 64-point advantage over Keith Riley by finishing no lower than sixth thus far.

The track’s other two championship chase divisions, the Thunder Cars and Hornets, will sit idle this weekend.  Thunder Cars will be back in action during the Dodge City Modified Stampede on July 19-20 while the Hornets next see action on August 31.

Buffalo, Oklahoma’s Dustin Walker holds a 17-point edge over Matt O’Hair of Laverne, OK, in the Thunder Car points chase while Dodge City’s Jarett Lunow holds the top spot in Hornet points on the strength of four wins in five outings.

Tickets to this Saturday’s URSS Sprint Car card along with Modifieds, Sport Modifieds and Stock Cars are just $12, with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

The World of Outlaws invade town the following weekend for the Boot Hill Showdown on July 5-6.  Tickets to the Boot Hill Showdown are available at or by calling the track at 620-225-3277.

In addition to the much anticipated World of Outlaws Boot Hill Showdown on July 5-6, 18 scheduled nights of action at Dodge City Raceway Park over the course of 2013 features several special events including the TORC Off Road Trucks in April, a pair of $1,200-to-win IMCA Modified tilts in July along with USAC Sprint Cars on August 23-24 and four rounds of URSS Sprint Car competition along the way.
