World of Outlaws At a Glance: Dodge City Raceway Park
WHAT
With the first event of the "SuperClean Summer of Money" in the books, the World of Outlaws prepare for three events this week. First up is a stop at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri on Wednesday night, followed by a trip to the Old West and Dodge City Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday for the Boot Hill Showdown. This past Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway, Terry McCarl became the 11th different driver to win an A-Feature event this season in the 32 events that have been contested.
WHEN
On Friday, June 22 at Dodge City Raceway Park pit gates will open at 3 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m., with racing set for 8 p.m.
On Saturday, June 23 at Dodge City Raceway Park pit gates will open at 3 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m., with racing set for 8 p.m.
WHERE
Dodge City Raceway Park is located in Dodge City, Kansas. Take U.S. 283 to the southern edge of Dodge City, go .9 miles west on U.S. 56, then .1 miles south.
TICKETS
On Friday, June 22 at Dodge City Raceway Park, adult advance tickets are $25, with advance tickets for children ages 5-13 just $5, and kids 5-under will be admitted free of charge. ON TELEVISION
The World of Outlaws "SuperClean Summer of Money" on ESPN2 continues on Sunday, June 24. The Boot Hill Showdown on Saturday, June 23 will be taped for broadcast on ESPN2 on Sunday, June 24 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern, 11:30 a.m. Central.
The World of Outlaws will be televised 20 times this season on ESPN2 and SPEED while the World of Outlaws Late Model Series is set for six appearances on SPEED. The one-hour broadcasts will air on Sundays from May 13 to Nov. 4, when the series champions will be crowned during the World Finals from The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Six World of Outlaws Late Model Series events this season will also be televised on the SPEED cable network. With two races having already aired, the next Late Model broadcast, on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Central, will feature coverage of the July 27 event from Eldora Speedway in Ohio.
ABOUT THE TRACKS
Dodge City Raceway Park is a semi-banked 3/8-mile oval that is 60 feet wide from top to bottom. Donny Schatz established the track record of 12.277 seconds on October 7, 2005.
