Revised Championship Points Scale for DCRP!
Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (March 19, 2013) – The chase for the Dodge City Raceway Park track championships begins in just 11 more days. And, when it gets under way on Saturday March 30 at 4:00 p.m., a revised championship points scale will be in place.
The March 30 opener will include the track’s five championship classes of IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets. All but the Hornets compete on the well-manicured 3/8-mile clay oval while the Hornets battle it out on the inner asphalt oval.
The revised scale will reward those that compete on a more frequent basis will also placing an added premium on feature wins, top-fives and top-tens.
The revised scale, which begins at 150 points for a feature win then drops by five points to second, four more points to third, then three points per position through tenth and then two points per position through the balance of the feature field will replace the former system of 40, 39, 38, etc.
The new points scale will be used in determining Dodge City Raceway Park track championship points only and will have no effect on IMCA calculations for state, regional or national points.

Seventy-five (75) points will be awarded to all non-transfers, with 60 points awarded to any driver unable to take a competitive green flag at some point in the night.
The March 30 season opener at Dodge City Raceway Park will be preceded by an open practice session this Sunday, March 24, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
With 18 nights of competition at Dodge City Raceway Park in 2013 scheduled over the course of 14 weekends, special events will include TORC Off Road Trucks, World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, USAC Southwest Sprint Cars, $1,200-to-win Modified Nationals and URSS Sprint Cars.
