The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event from Dodge City Raceway Park scheduled to air at 2:00p.m today on SpeedTV has been preempted because of Speed’s prior commitment to air coverage of the NASCAR Truck Series event. Speed and the World of Outlaws are working to find a new time in a comparable slot.
Make sure to tune into Speed at 2:00 p.m. CDT next Saturday, June 27, for coverage of the finale of the Boot Hill Showdown at Dodge City Raceway Park. It was a wild night in the Old West that won’t be forgotten.

We attended the WoO races on June 13th. We were wondering what Dodge City Raceway Park is going to do about us not being able to watch the whole race of the World of Outlaws. We paid for “4″ (four) tickets but only got to see 6 laps of the “shootout”. We suggest for now on, if there is any possibility of bad weather, throw the 305’s (which we did not come to see), to the back end of the program and put the WoO (which is what we paid to see) first. We brought out grandaughter with us for the first time and she was very dissapointed not to see the “salute the fans”.
Please e-mail us back and let us know what you are going to do.
Thank you,
Daniel Schoenberger
Dear Mr Shoenberger:
The event was ran after a rain delay – it was not canceled.
The drivers and everyone did their part to make the event happen. A bunch of people waited and saw the last 23 laps.
Your choice to not wait it out was yours, there were a bunch of race fans that stayed.
The 305’s were given 15 minutes to do their races. The WOO pushed off in the alloted time after the b feature and everything was on schedule til 2 crashes by the WOO.
The WOO staff elected not to do the 4 abreast salute just for the reason of the weather and nothing else.
We were disappointed as much as anyone with the weather but we worked our tails off and tore up a bunch of equipment to give them a race track both nights after getting rain on Thursday night and then again on Friday night and then again on Saturday during the event.
We suggest you make your case to the World of Outlaws if you want something else other than we are sorry we cannot control the weather.
just a note to say the race track at dodge city is great. I go to
ft. worth nascar each year and the track site here is just as good. Me and some friends from Borger, Tx came and spent the whole weekend. We had a great time. I had a uncle that used to race at the old dirt track and was the track champion back in 1956, Stanley Trahern. We drove around Dodge to look for the track but didn’t find it. We”ll be back for more races this summer. Keep up the good job, as for the guy about the race seeing 6 laps, you’ll have that in racing!
I attended both nights of racing with the WOO’s. I stayed for the finish of the Saturday night races and had a good time visiting with some friends while waiting for the finish of the race at 1:30 a.m. One complaint though, I did not understand why we were held prisoner during the event and could not go out to the parking lot to retrieve coats and warm weather gear as it got colder in the stands both nights than what most of us anticipated. This had not been done before in the past as far as I know and I am usually at the races each night of racing. P.S. I pitched at fit the first night and was let out and back in. If I hadn’t been allowed to get my jacket out of my car you would have lost a pretty good customer. Doug Harris
We left on the rain delay Saturday and went to Applebee’s. We called the track and they said just show your tickets at the gate, we did and they let us back in no problem! Great racing, great track, great time!
