The DCRP Championship Chases!

21 August 2013 | Featured News | |

Mods1 062913Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (August 21, 2013) – While wingless Sprint Cars take to Dodge City Raceway Park’s 3/8-mile clay oval for the only time in 2013 with the final two legs of the USAC Southwest Freedom Tour on Friday and Saturday, plenty of track championship implications are on the line as well this weekend.

Only three nights of competition remain for each of the track’s primary four championship chase divisions including one night of action for each this weekend.  All that remains after this weekend is a championship chase card next Saturday, August 31, and then the Jerry Soderberg Championship Memorial event on September 28 that will also include the URSS Sprint Cars.

With the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars in action on both Friday and Saturday, the IMCA Stock Cars and Thunder Cars join in on Friday night’s action with the IMCA Modifieds and United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds filling out Saturday night’s card.  Both nights of racing action go green at 7:30 p.m.

In DCRP championship chase action, Austin Allen has recaptured the top position in IMCA Modified points while Jeff Kaup and Billy Phelps retain the top ranking in United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars, respectively.

This weekend’s tickets for adults are just $12 for the Friday night portion and $15 for the Saturday Freedom Tour finale.  Children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Only two of the 18 scheduled nights of competition at DCRP remain following this weekend’s Freed Tour double including championship chase action on August 31 and the season ending Jerry Soderberg Championship Memorial Event on September 28 that includes URSS Sprint Cars along with each of the track’s regular divisions.
