The DCRP Championship Chases!
Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (August 24, 2012) – All five championship chase divisions will be in action Saturday night, August 25, at Dodge City Raceway Park as the Leary Racing Products Blood, Sweet ‘N Tears Modified series crowns its Southern champion as well.
Saturday’s $1,000-to win Modified event will award both BST South points and IMCA Modified track points, with the United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Poor Boy Kustomz Thunder Cars and Hornets garnering track championship points as well.
While Turpin, Oklahoma’s Cody Gearhart holds a 5-point edge over Amarillo’s Conner Pullen in the BST Modified title chase, it’s Cole Traugott leading the way in IMCA Modified points at Dodge City Raceway Park with other current point leaders including Bart Baker (IMCA Sport Modifieds), Perry Misner (IMCA Stock Cars), Dan Rogers (Thunder Cars) and Dwayne Bowman (Hornets).
Saturday’s racing action gets under way at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets to Saturday’s action are just $15 for adults. Seniors and Military receive a $5 discount, with children 11 and under admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.
A look at the track’s title chases leading into the weekend…
Six different drivers have reached victory lane in nine events thus far, but it’s the consistency of Woodward, Oklahoma’s Cole Traugott that has him atop the point charts with a 14-point advantage over defending track champion Brendon Gemmill, who has reached victory lane on three occasions.

The Sport Mods have offered up six different winners in seven events, with May 4 winner Bart Baker holding an 11-point edge over Josh Appel on the strength of five top-five runs.

IMCA Stock Cars:
A winner of four of seven feature events, Perry Misner has opened up his points lead to 46 markers over Brett Copeland after a June 23 DNF erased much of his advantage. Misner has won just once in the last four outings though.

Poor Boy Kustomz Thunder Cars:
Only Shelby Staple has been able to post multiple victories through seven Thunder Car outings, but it’s Dan Rogers in command of the title chase with a 23-point lead over Scott Messino.

Dodge City Raceway Park will present 16 nights of racing over a dozen different weekends in 2012.
