Mods 051113 980bLonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (May 23, 2013) – While Dodge City Raceway Park sits idle this coming weekend, several exciting nights of action are on tap for the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas for the month of June.

Three Saturday nights of competition in June set the stage for a  big month of July at DCRP that will include World of Outlaws Sprint Cars on July 5-6, the rescheduled Dodge City Modified Stampede on July 19-20 and URSS Sprint Cars for the opener of Dodge City Days on July 26.

For the month of June, the track will be in action every other Saturday night beginning next Saturday, June 1.

The June 1 card at DCRP will include a full slate of championship chase action including IMCA Modifieds, United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Thunder Cars along with Hornets on the inner asphalt oval.

An identical championship chase card will follow on Saturday, June 15, with the same classes.  Tickets to both the June 1 and June 15 events are just $10 for adults with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

June racing action at DCRP rounds out on Saturday, June 29, with the second appearance of the year of the United Rebel Sprint Car Series along with IMCA Modifieds, United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars.  Tickets to the June 29 card are just $12 for adults with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

All three June events at DCRP will go green at 7:30 p.m.

With the initial five nights of the 2013 DCRP season in the books, the championship races are quickly developing into heated battles.  Randy Wilson and Austin Allen are tied for the IMCA Modified points, lead, Jeff Kaup is just three points ahead of Clay Sellard in IMCA Sport Modified points, Billy Phelps holds a 38 point advantage in IMCA Stock Cars, Dustin Walker and Cody Davis are tied for the Thunder Car points lead and Jarett Lunow holds a 16-point advantage over Brandon Bogner in Hornets.

Eighteen scheduled nights of action at Dodge City Raceway Park over the course of 2013 features several special events including the TORC Off Road Trucks in April, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars on July 5-6, a pair of $1,200-to-win IMCA Modified tilts in July along with USAC Sprint Cars on August 23-24 and four rounds of URSS Sprint Car competition along the way.

Dodge City Raceway Park is located on the south edge of Dodge City, KS, on US 283, then 0.9 miles west on US 56, then 0.1 miles south.  For more information, contact the track at 620-225-3277 or check www.dodgecityraceway.com.
