mods2051014 980Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 18, 2014) – The ground will rumble in southwest Kansas on Saturday night with the second running of the Modified Stampede atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.

And while the IMCA Modifieds battle it out for the $1,200 winner’s share of the big event, championship points are on the line for not only the Modifieds but the IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets as well.

Leading the way into Saturday’s action that fires off at 7:30 p.m. in their respective classes are Ryan Heger, Jeff Kaup, Perry Misner, William Bauer and Jarett Lunow.

IMCA Modifieds:

Six winners in six races thus far is the story of the 2014 Modified season at DCRP thus far, resulting in a tight race for championship honors.

Hugoton’s Ryan Heger, who has claimed feature wins in each of the last two season-ending events, is just nine points ahead of reigning track champ Austin Allen going into the Stampede with Jesse Smith, Cole Traugott and Kale Beavers among those aiming to keep title hopes alive.

Feature Winners: Scott Brown 1, Brendon Gemmill 1, Van Gemmill 1, Joel Lane 1, Clay Sellard 1, Jesse Smith.

Current Top Ten in Points:  1. Ryan Heger (Hugoton, KS) 785, 2. Austin Allen (Wichita, KS) 776, 3. Jesse Smith (Dodge City, KS) 755, 4. Cole Traugott (Woodward, OK) 753, 5.
