TORC 3Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 8, 2013) – The familiar Dodge City Raceway Park 3/8-mile clay oval doesn’t look so familiar today.

With the high-flying TORC Off Road Trucks set to invade Dodge City this weekend, the track has undergone a major transformation to accommodate “Baja” style racing before an expected massive crowd this weekend.

With seven-time motocross champion Ricky Johnson and desert sensation Bryce Menzies among those leading the charge, the 900 horepower, 4,000 pound trucks will battle it out for honors of topping the inaugural TORC event at Dodge City Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday.

Johnson is the reigning Pro 4×4 TORC champion while Menzies is the defending Pro 2WD champion.

This weekend’s event marks the opening round of competition for the TORC series after some recent pre-season testing in Primm, NV.

The two nights of racing action will be preceded by a full day of activity on Thursday that will include the drivers stopping by Dodge City schools to meet with students and sign autographs, a practice session, a parade of TORC trucks to Boot Hill and then a dinner and VIP party at Boot Hill to wrap up the day.

Tickets for the TORC event on April 12-13 are just $20 each per day and can be ordered in advance at http://torc.eventbrite.com/#.  Racing gets under way at 7:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

More information regarding the TORC series is available at http://www.torcseries.com/.

With 18 nights of competition at Dodge City Raceway Park in 2013 scheduled over the course of 14 weekends, special events will include TORC Off Road Trucks, World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, USAC Southwest Sprint Cars, $1,200-to-win Modified Nationals and URSS Sprint Cars.
