Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 10, 2018) – Just as the summer temperatures continue to intensify, so do the championship points battles at Dodge City Raceway Park.

And it will continue on Saturday night with another round of action atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas featuring the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Saturday’s racing action will go green at 7:30 p.m.

With the first half of the season in the books, the quintet of Brian Herbert (DCRP Sprint Cars), Nick Link (IMCA Modifieds), Jeff Kaup (IMCA Sport Modifieds), Shannon Maughlin (IMCA Stock Cars) and Reagan Sellard (IMCA Hobby Stocks) lead the way in their respective point chases.

The DCRP Sprint Cars have this weekend off and will return to action on the July 27 Driver Appreciation Night.

Kaup and Sellard are both reigning DRRP track champions while Link looks to add a second championship in three years after taking the 2016 track title in the Modified ranks.

Neither the Sprint Cars nor Modifieds have seen a repeat winner yet this season.  The IMCA Modifieds have offered up four winners in as many races thus far with Kevin Gray, Brendon Gemmill, Nick Link and Clay Sellard each looking to become the first repeat winner of the season on Saturday night.

The parity in the IMCA Modified ranks has Rolla’s Link just 13 points ahead of Gray with another half-dozen racers including William Nusser, Jack Kirchoff, Mike Lunow, Kale Beavers, Ryan Heger and Joel Lane with 46 points of the top spot.

Woodward’s Kaup holds the most commanding of leads with an 86-point advantage over Brian May in the IMCA Sport Modifieds while Maughlin is just 16 markers ahead of Dusty Witthuhn in the IMCA Stock Cars and Sellard is now 25 points ahead of Dan Rogers in the IMCA Hobby Stocks after a wild finish last time out.
