DCRP Back in Action this SaturdayJune 7, 2016
Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 7, 2016) – Dodge City Raceway Park will continue to be the place to be on Saturday nights with another full card of championship chase action atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas this Saturday night.
After sitting idle this past weekend to let the NCRA Late Models take center stage, the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars and IMCA Modifieds return to action this Saturday night with the IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks in action as well.
For the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, Saturday’s card is just one of two more opportunities to get dialed in for the URSS vs. DCRP Sprint Car portion of the “Steve King Memorial” on July 1-2.
Becoming the fourth different winner in as many events the last time out on May 21, Turpin, Oklahoma’s Taylor Velasquez holds a 14-point advantage over defending DCRP Sprint Car champion Luke Cranston in this year’s title chase with opening night winner Brian Herbert, veteran shoe Mike Peters and Tyler Knight among the current top five.
Woodward’s Cole Traugott has enjoyed the hot hand in recent IMCA Modified action by topping three of the four most recent events.
But, with Traugott missing one night along the way, it’s Nick Link atop the IMCA Modified point charts by 18 points over Ryan Heger with Joel Lane, William Nusser, Kevin Gray and Kale Beavers all bunched up in a wild battle for third and still within striking distance of the lead.
The IMCA Sport Modifieds added another winner to the list with Daylon Bergeron topping this past weekend’s card to become the 13th different winner in the last 15 events. Still looking to add his name to that list, Kevin Tabor has extended his points lead to 29 points over Brian May with defending champ Jeff Kaup climbing back into the chase another ten points back.
Michael Pepper has pushed his IMCA Stock Car points lead to 44 points over Marlin Hogie with Chris Oliver another seven points back in third while Matt O’Hair used his second win of the season on Saturday night to move atop the IMCA Hobby Stock points by just seven markers over Cody Davis.
Saturday’s action goes green at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets to Saturday’s championship chase action at Dodge City Raceway Park are just $15 for adults with children eleven and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.
