DCRP Title Chases – The Final Night!admin
The 2018 championship points battles boil down to Saturday night’s Sixth Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas.
The event that fires off at 7:00 p.m. includes a full card of Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars versus the United Rebel Sprint Series along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
While several championships remain up for grabs, positions throughout the top ten of each division are still in question.
Leading the way into Saturday’s card are Steven Richardson, Nick Link, Jeff Kaup, Dusty Witthuhn and Reagan Sellard.

Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars:
Liberal’s Steven Richardson can secure the crown with a top-five finish on Saturday night. But, if he falters at all, Dodge City’s Brian Herbert could be there to pounce on the championship opportunity with a strong night. The battle for third is a tight one as well with only 36 points separating the quartet of Koby Walters, Ray Seemann, Jordan Knight and Tyler Knight.

Rolla’s Nick Link can put away his second track title in three years with a finish of seventh or better on Saturday, though Kevin Gray and William Nusser are both lurking in the shadows with a chance to snare the title if Link misses out on a good night.

Woodward’s Jeff Kaup has secured his fifth track championship in six years but it’s pure chaos in his wake. While Bart Baker has a semi-firm hold on second, just one point separates Jarett Lunow and Brian May in the battle for third while only 20 points is the difference between the trio of Alex Wiens, Kyle Wiens and Daylon Bergeron in the fight for fifth.

The Stock Car chase hangs in the balance as well, with Bazine’s Dusty Witthuhn able to put it away for keeps with a finish of ninth or better. Chris Oliver could capitalize if Witthuhn stumbles while just a dozen points separate Marlin Hogie and Tyler Walker in the scrum for third.

An appearance from Bucklin’s Reagan Sellard makes it two track championships in a row with the battle for fifth among Chad Kelley, Tom Reed and Mike Davis the greatest hurly-burly of the Hobby Stock ranks with only 25 points separating the trio.

General admission for Saturday’s Sixth Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship Event at DCRP is just $20 with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Additionally, tickets and pit passes from the rain-shortened September 1 event are good for admission.
