Sooner Late Models Up Next at DCRP!

Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 3, 2019) – The next action at Dodge City Raceway Park on Saturday, July 13, marks the lone Late Model appearance of the year atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas.

The Sooner Late Model Series will visit the state-of-the-art track for the first time ever with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks in action as well.

Racing action will get under way at 7:30 p.m.

With three wins in seven events thus far in 2019, Kip Hughes leads the Sooner Late Model Series into Dodge City with Damian Patochka, Steve Hawkins, John Somers and Wayne Bush also among the current top five in series points.

While Hughes has topped three of seven, the other four wins have been spread about among Travis Johnson, Patrick Daniel, Robbie Starnes and Dusty Leonard.

While the Sooner Late Models take center stage, it’s also another critical night of championship chase action for the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

A mere 11 points separate the top three in the IMCA Modified ranks with William Nusser holding a nine-point edge over Trent Gray with Jesse Smith another two points back in third.

Jeff Kaup holds a 17-point advantage over Brian May in IMCA Sport Modifieds, Angel Munoz has opened up an 80-point advantage over Chris Oliver in IMCA Stock Cars and Reagan Sellard has a 93-point lead over Brian Thomas in his quest for a third consecutive IMCA Hobby Stock title.

Tickets to the Saturday, July 13, Sooner Late Model Series special event are just $15 with children 11 and under admitted for free.
