Status Quo for DCRP Sport Mods in 2015February 3, 2015
Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (February 3, 2015) – The IMCA Sport Modified have ranked as one of the most competitive divisions atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval over the past several seasons.
And, despite the recent circulation of rumors by the uninformed, there will be no change in the IMCA Sport Modified division at the southwest Kansas oval for 2015.
Just as in the past several years, the track on the IMCA Mason-Dixon line will once again allow Northern and Southern Sport Mods to compete together with Northern cars running under IMCA North Sport Mod specs and Southerns running under IMCA Southern Sport Mod rules.
Point distribution will remain the same as well with all cars competing for track championship points while Northern and Southern will be split out for Regional point distribution.
The IMCA Sport Modifieds are one of five championship chase track divisions along with the DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks along with guest appearances along the way by the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, NCRA and ASCS Sprint Cars, USAC Southwest Sprint Cars and URSS Sprint Cars.
The IMCA Modifieds have a special event on tap for July 18 with the Third Annual Modified Stampede that offers up $1,200 to win while the IMCA Sport Modifeds will battle it out for a $1,000 winner’s share in the Second Annual Sport Modified Mayhem event on August 29.
The 2015 season at Dodge City Raceway Park is rapidly approaching with an open practice on April 4 followed by opening night on April 11 featuring the track’s five championship chase divisions.
Dodge City Raceway Park is located on the south edge of Dodge City, KS, on US 283, then 0.9 miles west on US 56, then 0.1 miles south. For more information, contact the track at 620-225-3277 or check www.dodgecityraceway.com.
