The DCRP Title Chases!May 1, 2014
Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (May 1, 2014) – While Late Models take center stage with the MARS vs. NCRA Border War at Dodge City Raceway Park on Saturday night, championship chase action will be in full swing as well.
In addition to Late Models, Saturday’s card will also include DCRP championship chase action for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds and Thunder Cars with action going green at 7:30 p.m.
A look at the DCRP title chases…
While Van Gemmill and Clay Sellard have taken the opening two feature events, Garden City’s Mike Wadel has moved atop the point charts in the early going with runs of fourth and fifth. Only twelve points separate the top five with Ryan Heger six points out of the lead in second with a three-way tie for third between reigning champion Austin Allen, Nick Link and Cole Traugott.

IMCA Sport Modifieds:
After Michael Shenberger topped the season opener, defending champ Jeff Kaup broke into victory lane last time out on April 19 to jump into the early points lead with a 22-point advantage over Randle McRoberts with Bart Baker, Toby Witthuhn and Jason Lunow among the early top five.

IMCA Stock Cars:
Perry Misner has raced to victory lane in each of the opening two events, including the $750-to-win Great Plains Stock Car special on April 19, to open a 24-point advantage over Michael Pepper. Stock Cars return to action next Saturday, May 10.

Cody Davis has broken out of the gates quickly with two consecutive wins to start the year, opening up a 20-point advantage over defending track champion Dustin Walker.

It’s more of the same in Hornet action with Jaret Lunow two-for-two after winning five of seven en route to last year’s championship. There may be hope for his rivals though, as it took until the last lap for his most recent win. Hornets return to action on May 10.
