Third Annual Modified Stampede on Saturday!July 14, 2015
While the IMCA Modifieds will battle it out for a $1,200 winner’s share, other DCRP championship chase action will include IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
Saturday’s action gets under way at 7:30 p.m.
The DCRP championship contenders will square off with a host of invading drivers for bragging rights and added money with the Third Annual Modified Stampede. David Murray topped the inaugural version of the event in 2013 with Brendon Gemmill taking the checkered flag last year.
Since Clay Sellard opened the season with three consecutive wins in IMCA Modified action, three different drivers have topped the most recent three events including Jesse Richter, Scott Green and Cole Traugott.
While denied victory lane thus far, two-time and reigning track champion Austin Allen of Goddard, KS, leads the DCRP forces into the Modified Stampede with a 28-point lead over Hugoton’s Ryan Heger in the championship points chase.
After opening strong, Sellard is 11 points behind Heger in third with William Nusser and Jimmy Brozek also among the current top five. The balance of the top ten in IMCA Modified points includes Kevin Gray, Kale Beavers, Jack Kirchoff, Nick Link and Heath Myers.
With the Modifieds battling it out for $1,200, critical points are on the line as Jeff Kaup, Michael Pepper and Cody Davis lead their respective divisions into the night.
While Woodward’s Kaup holds a 41-point lead over Dodge City’s Mike Appel in the IMCA Sport Modified title chase, the division has offered up eight different winners in as many features thus far with Alan Brewster and Jason Lunow topping the most recent pair of events on Fourth of July weekend. Josh Appel, Kevin Tabor and Brian May are also among the current top five in points.
Lakin’s Michael Pepper has been dominant in the IMCA Stock Car ranks, picking off five wins in six tries to build up a 66-point lead over Randy Dowell with Ron Hartman, Brett Copeland and Kyle Tillery also among the top five.
In IMCA Hobby Stock action, Bucklin’s Cody Davis has posted a pair of wins to establish an 18-point advantage over Reagan Sellard, who topped the most recent feature on June 20.
General admission for Saturday’s Third Annual Modified Stampede is just $15 with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
