White Flag Flies on the DCRP Title Chases on Saturday!admin
Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (August 31, 2018) – A full season of high-octane racing action at Dodge City Raceway Park has boiled down to just two more nights to determine the 2018 track champions.
Saturday night’s Labor Day Weekend special atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas is all that remains before the September 15 Sixth Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event that puts the wraps on the 2018 title chases.
Several titles are still up for grabs with valuable positions throughout the top ten in each divisions sure to change over the remaining two nights of action.
Leading the way into Saturday’s card are Steven Richardson, Nick Link, Jeff Kaup, Dusty Witthuhn and Reagan Sellard.
Saturday’s action fires off at 7:30 p.m.

Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars:
Liberal’s Steven Richardson has taken command of the points lead for the first time this season after taking the top spot from previous leader Brian Herbert last week. The lead is just 17 points though with Koby Walters another three points back in third. Two-time and reigning champ Taylor Velasquez was poised to close in dramatically last week only to go up in smoke as the white flag flew. Velasquez still has hope, albeit slim at 57 points out of the lead with just two nights remaining.

Each position among the top ten in the IMCA Modified chase is up for grabs including the top spot that is currently occupied by Rolla’s Nick Link, who is gunning for a second track title in three years. Link takes a 22 point lead over Kevin Gray into Saturday’s card with William Nusser, Kale Beavers and Jack Kirchoff among those still taking aim.

Woodward’s Jeff Kaup is on the verge of officially putting the clamps on a fifth DCRP track championship in six years with a 169-point lead going into Saturday’s action. It’s a madhouse behind him though with plenty of movement to ensue.

The title fight is down to a battle between Dusty Witthuhn and Chris Oliver, with Witthuhn holding a 20-point edge after reeling off back-to-back wins before Tyler Tipton added his name to the win list last weekend.
